The Role of the State Attorney General: Differing Perspectives event examined the changing role of the state attorney general.
Speakers addressed the phenomenon of coordinated multi-state litigation by state AGs and examine the role of the National Association of Attorneys General. One panel addressed the impact of AG activism on various sectors of the economy.
Two studies were released at the event. One analyzes the wave of AG activism and its implications for federalism, interstate commerce, and American businesses. Another study critiques the practice of attorneys general delegating their enforcement powers to private attorneys operating on contingency fees, and examines the laws governing contracts between outside lawyers and state attorneys general. |
